Preparing an instant herbal tea sachet takes a minute. The details differ from one product to the next, though, so this guide shows the common pattern and then the differences that are worth noticing.
The basic method
Open one single-serve sachet.
Empty it into a glass or cup.
Add hot water and stir until the powder has dissolved.
Drink it warm, at the time of day the product page names.
Because the powder is instant, you do not need a teapot or a strainer. Many pages say to drink the tea a set time before a meal, often one hour before breakfast and one hour before dinner.
Where the instructions differ
The table shows how seven teas from the shop describe their preparation. The water amount, the waiting time and the number of sachets all vary.
Tea | Preparation as stated | Timing as stated |
|---|---|---|
One sachet in about 200 ml of hot water, stirred | Morning and evening, about 1 hour before meals | |
One sachet in 150 to 200 ml of hot water, steeped 5 minutes; hot or cold | One sachet a day, 30 minutes before a meal | |
One sachet in hot water, wait 4 minutes, stir | Twice a day, 45 minutes before breakfast and dinner | |
One sachet in boiled water, steep 5 to 7 minutes | Twice daily, 45 minutes before meals | |
One sachet in a glass of cold water, stirred until dissolved | Twice a day, before breakfast and about an hour before dinner | |
One teaspoon in hot water, wait about 5 minutes | Once a day, about half an hour before breakfast | |
1 teaspoon in 200 to 300 ml of hot water, 5 to 6 minutes | Twice daily; can also be enjoyed cold with lemon and ice |
Three details people often miss
Steeping is not always needed
Some sachets dissolve at once, like Diox. Others, such as Diana and Iron Detox, ask you to let the cup rest for several minutes. Follow the page rather than guessing.
Cold water is sometimes allowed
MiaxTea is mixed with cold water, and Iron Detox and Royal B can be drunk cold. Most other teas are written for hot water.
Some teas use a spoon, not a sachet
Narcissa Acerola Tea and Royal B use a teaspoon of powder instead of a sachet. Narcissa's page also describes stirring a spoonful into yogurt.
Building a routine
Pick a fixed time and keep it. A tea that is taken twice a day, like Meri Tea, is easiest to remember when you attach it to breakfast and dinner. Meri Tea's page says one sachet in a cup of hot water, twice a day, about an hour before meals, and to drink plenty of water.
